Quantitative Analysis and Visual Perception of Window View of Large-Scale Public Buildings——Taking the East Library of Shanghai Library as an Example
As an integral part of urban public service facilities, urban public buildings participate in the construc-tion of urban landscape and morphology together with other elements of the city. The design of public buildings emphasizes the association and interaction with the surrounding urban landscape, and the visual quality of the window view,as an important medium to perceive the surrounding urban landscape from the inside of the build-ing,is of great significance to the spatial perception and environmental experience of the building.Taking the East Building of Shanghai Library as an example, the three main elements of the window view, namely green plants, building and sky,are selected to analyze the visual quality of the window view in terms of three indica-tors:green visibility, sky view and skyline. The results show that the green visibility rate of the east, west, south and north sides of the window view is 0.35,0.42,0.38 and 0.25 respectively,Sky view is 0.75,0.38,0.58 and 0.47 respectively, and the richness of the skyline is 1.30,1.85,1.19 and 1.81.Through questionnaire surveys and statistics, the people's visual perception of the elements of the window view is analyzed. The results show that the distant view of the sky is more attractive to people inside the building, and the window view with a higher value of sky view can make people feel happy physically and mentally. The skyline is easy to be accessed and perceived, and rich skyline changes can get higher attention. This study is expected to provide ideas and references for the design of window views in public buildings and the study of visual experience of public architectural landscape.
