Research on the Impact of VOCs on Ozone in the Central Urban Area of Shenzhen
To evaluate the impact of volatile organic compounds(VOCs)in the air of urban built-up areas on o-zone,online monitoring of 117VOC components in the ambient air was carried out in the central urban area of Shenzhen from October 19 to November 8,2022.The relative incremental reactivity(RIR)and ozone formation potential(OFP)methods were used to study the contribution of VOCs to ozone generation, and the variation char-acteristics of VOCs between ozone polluted and non-polluted days were compared.During the observation period, the total concentration level of VOCs(TVOCs)in the central urban area of Shenzhen was 23.18 ppb.The results of RIR analysis indicated that ozone generation in the central urban area of Shenzhen has become a VOC control are-a,but there was a certain degree of local NOx reduction adverse effect, and aromatic hydrocarbons and olefins had a relatively high contribution to ozone, which is consistent with the analysis of OFP.Also, toluene, metalpara xy-lene,and 2-butanone were the optimal VOCs species for ozone pollution control in the central urban area of Shenzhen.Comparing ozone polluted and non-polluted days, ozone pollution was determined by multiple factors, and a direct increase in VOCs concentration did not directly lead to an increase in ozone concentration. However, from the perspective of changes in VOCs concentration alone, the peak concentration, accumulation rate, and con-sumption rate of VOCs components on ozone pollution days are significantly higher.
