Effects of Water Stress on the Growth and Physiology of Quercus acutissima Seedlings
To investigate the effects of different degrees of water stress on various growth indicators, leaf pigment content, and net photosynthetic rate of Quercus acutissima seedlings.Method:This study used Linyi City,Shan-dong Province as the experimental site, and set up three different degrees of water stress treatments:mild(adding water to make the water surface at a height of 1/2 of the soil),moderate(adding water to make the water surface level with the soil surface),and severe(adding water to make the water surface 15cm higher than the soil surface). The growth and physiological indicators of Quercus acutissima seedlings under different degrees of water stress were evaluated. The effects of different degrees of water stress on the growth of Quercus acutissima seedlings are compared, including shoot height, shoot diameter, leaf water content, chlorophyll a,chlorophyll b,total chloro-phyll content, and net photosynthetic rate. The results showed that there were significant differences in the shoot height growth, shoot diameter growth, leaf water content,as well as the chlorophyll a,chlorophyll b,total chloro-phyll content, and net photosynthetic rate of Quercus acutissima seedlings under three different degrees of water stress;Except for the blank control, the order of shoot height growth and leaf water content from high to low in each treatment group is:mild>moderate>severe. The order of shoot coarse growth in each treatment group from high to low is:severe>moderate>mild; The chlorophyll content and net photosynthetic rate of leaves in each treatment group were ranked from high to low as follows:mild>moderate>severe. Conclusion:With the increas-ing degree of water stress, the growth status of Quercus acutissima seedlings gradually deteriorates. This study provides a theoretical basis for the scientific cultivation of Quercus acutissima seedlings.
