Investigation and Study on the Community Structures of Planktonic Algae in Rivers of Xuchang City
In order to understand the structural characteristics and water quality of planktonic algae in the water bodies of Xuchang City,the species composition,density,and biodiversity index of planktonic algae in 12 sections of 10 rivers in Xuchang City were investigated and analyzed in April 2022.A total of 42 species belonging to 38 genera and 7 phyla of planktonic algae were recorded,with 13 species dominated by the phylum Chlorophyta,fol-lowed by the phylum Diatom;The phylum Chlorophyta has the most species but fewer individuals per species;Chlorella vulgaris was the dominant species in all 12 sampling points.The Shannon Wiener diversity index and Pielou species evenness index were applied to preliminarily evaluate water quality.The results showed that there were three river sections in the study area with no pollution,three river sections with moderate pollution,and the rest of the river sections with no pollution or mild pollution.Overall,the water quality was good.
