Assessment and Analysis of Carbon Storage of State-Owned Forest Vegetation in Dalaoling Nature Reserve of Hubei Province
Forests are the largest carbon pool in terrestrial ecosystems, which can absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and fix it in vegetation or soil through forest plants, thereby reducing the concentration of carbon di-oxide in the atmosphere.Based on the 2019 Forest Resources Second Class Survey data of state-owned forests in the Dalaoling National Nature Reserve in Hubei Province(hereinafter referred to as the Dalaoling Conservation Area),using different tree species and biomass conversion equation parameters, the carbon storage of state-owned forest vegetation, different forest types, different age groups, different regional divisions, and the carbon density of vegetation in the same region were estimated, analyzed and compared. It was found that the carbon density of state-owned forests in the Dalaoling Conservation Area was also much higher than the average of forest tree layers in Hubei Province and similar regions in China.Analysis shows that there are significant differences in carbon storage among different age groups of state-owned forests, and there is a high space for forest stand transforma-tion.It is recommended to further enhance carbon sequestration capacity by strengthening forest nurturing.
