Research Progress on the Mechanism of Plant Response to Cadmium Stress
Cadmium(Cd)is a non-essential metal element in plant growth and development, which can produce strong toxicity to plants and easily enter the human body through the food chain, causing damage to human health. In order to comprehensively understand the response of plants to Cd stress, this paper first summarizes the current situation of soil Cd pollution, and then reviews the toxic effects of soil Cd pollution on plants, including the effects of Cd on plant growth and development, enzyme activity, photosynthesis and respiration. Then, the mecha-nism of Cd uptake, transport and tolerance in plants is mainly expounded, and the related genes involved in Cd uptake, transport and tolerance in plants such as rice,Arabidopsis thaliana and maize are summarized. Finally, the conclusion and prospect are put forward.Soil Cd pollution has a serious toxic effect on plants,so it is of great sig-nificance to study the mechanism of plant response to Cd stress. It is necessary to further analyze the mechanism of Cd uptake, transport and tolerance in plants from the level of molecular biology, and explore the mechanism of plant response to Cd stress from the root, which is conducive to selecting and cultivating plant resources with high resistance to Cd stress, and can also provide genetic resources for phytoremediation technology of soil Cd pollu-tion.
