Study on the Construction Technology of Pinus armandii Mother Tree Forest in Qujing City
Seeds are the foundation of afforestation,and the quality of seed sources directly affects the growth of offspring forests.This study aims to investigate the construction technology of Pinus armandii mother tree forests and its effects,providing a scientific basis for improving the growth,fertility,and seed quality of Pinus armandii mother tree forests.Forest stands were selected as mother tree forests based on four aspects:forest land environ-ment,forest age,canopy density,and tree species composition.Potential seed harvesting areas were surveyed and standard land surveys were conducted.Seed harvesting areas were determined based on the classification of moth-er trees.Then,mother tree forests were constructed using thinning methods,with management measures such as soil loosening,weeding,fertilization,fire prevention,and pest control implemented.Finally,a case study was con-ducted in the Pinus armandii mother tree forest in the Haizhai of Qujing City,Yunnan Province,to evaluate the effects of mother tree forest construction and management measures.The tree height,diameter at breast height,and crown width of the mother tree forest were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05),while the clear bole height was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).The fruiting tree rate,cone dry weight,thousand-seed weight,and sound seed rate of the mother tree forest were significantly different from those of the control group(P<0.05),indicating that the growth,fertility,and seed quality of Pinus armandii were significantly improved after the construction and maintenance of the mother tree forest using the proposed tech-nology.Through scientific selection of mother tree forests,selection of seed mother trees,and construction and management of mother tree forests,the growth,fertility,and seed quality of Pinus armandii mother tree forests can be significantly improved.It is recommended to promote the use of this technology in the region.
