Influence of Difference Substrate Recipes on the Grwoth of Phoebe chekiangensis and Phoebe bournei Container Seedlings
In this study,11 different substrate recipes were prepared by various materials such as peat, bark, husk, perlite, yellow subsoil, river sand, and farmland soil based on different volumetric ratios. The objective was to in-vestigate the effects of these substrate on the growth of Phoebe chekiangensis and Phoebe bournei container seed-lings,aiming to identify the optimal seedling substrates for these two precious tree species. The results indicated that Recipe 3(peat∶bark∶husk∶perlite=2.5∶4∶2∶1.5)was most suitable for the cultivation of Phoebe chek-iangensis seedlings, while Recipe 7(peat∶bark∶husk∶perlite∶river sand=1∶4∶2.5∶0.5∶2)was more fa-vorable for the growth of Phoebe bournei container seedlings. This variation might be attributed to differences in biological characteristics, growth habits, and adaptability to environmental conditions between the two tree spe-cies.The ideal substrate for Phoebe chekiangensis relied on peat due to its ability to provide high-quality nutrients and a favorable physical environment. In contrast, for Phoebe bournei, the utilization of alternative materials such as bark and husk achieved satisfactory seedling cultivation results with lower costs, offering an economically sus-tainable seedling cultivation solution for forestry production.
