Analysis of Characteristics and Causes of Place Names Landscape Based on GIS Approach in Huairou District
In order to deeply excavate the rich information contained in the countryside place names in northern Beijing,and give full play to the important role of toponymic culture in boosting the economic and social devel-opment of the capital city,this paper takes Huairou District of Beijing as an example,and analyzes the cultural landscapes of 611 countryside place names of the district by applying the method of mathematical statistics,the method of documentary evidence,and the method of GIS kernel density analysis.The results show that the types of rural geographical names in Huairou District are mainly in the category of natural landscape.Among the natural landscape geographical names,the highest proportion of them is in the category of topography and geomorpholo-gy,which are mainly distributed in the southwestern hilly area,the central semi-mountainous area,and the north-ern mountainous area;the geographical names in the category of humanistic landscape are mainly distributed in the southern plains area which is densely populated and economically developed.There is spatial differentiation a-mong the cultural landscape categories of rural place names.Nature,migration,war,policy,ethnicity,religion and other driving factors have an important influence on the formation and distribution of rural place names in Huair-ou District.
