Color Evaluation and Updating of Street Scenery Based on Color Coordination—A Case Study of Fenghuang Street in Nanjing
Urban building colors play a significant role in shaping the quality of urban spaces. To refine and en-hance the color environment quality of built-up areas and emphasize the operability of planning methods, this study employs street view collection and semantic segmentation technology, focusing on Fenghuang Street, the core area of Pukou Old Town in Nanjing.Based on the Munsell color system and color psychology, the study con-ducts a quantitative analysis of the hue, value, and chroma attributes of building colors in the research area. The a-nalysis assesses building color quality from two scales:overall harmony and individual harmony. The results show that:①there is considerable fluctuation in the color harmony values of building facades on Fenghuang Street;the color harmony stability of building facades on the east side of the street is higher at both the overall and individu-al levels compared to the west side.By integrating the analysis results of color harmony values at both levels,13 groups of buildings were identified as needing color updates;②guiding the color update based on the original color palette can effectively enhance the quality of street building colors;③the color harmony index can serve as an effective tool for small-scale color updates. It not only assesses the harmony of building color combinations but also identifies color update targets from point to surface. The range of color choices is quantified. The reconstruc-tion of building color schemes and adjustment of color proportions are guided by integrating the original and de-sign color palettes. This enables the development of adaptable color schemes that can be implemented in space.
