Study on the Ecological Environment Quality Change in Sichuan Yakang Expressway in Recent 10 Years Based on Remote Sensing Ecology Index
Study on the change of ecological environment quality in the process of expressway construction is im-portant to coordinate the relationship between transportation construction and ecological environment protection, which is conducive to implementing efficient measures of ecological protection and restoration.Based on the Google Earth Engine(GEE)cloud platform, this study extracted four evaluation indexes of greenness, humidity, dryness and heat of one kilometer on both sides of the Yakang Expressway from 2013 to 2022 from Landsat8 OLI/TRIS remote sensing images by median synthesis method, and constructed the remote sensing ecological index by principal component analysis method. The temporal and spatial changes of ecological quality grades with the transfer matrix are evaluated. The relationship between altitude and ecological environment quality is analyzed. This research showed that the remote sensing ecological index of the Yakang Expressway has increased in fluctua-tions past 10 years, with an improvement area of 11,266.98 hectares;the remote sensing ecological index decreased during the construction period(2014-2018),with a degradation area of 12,023.03 hectares;the remote sensing ec-ological index increased significantly during the operation period(2019-2022),with an improvement area of 20,959.86 hectares.Influenced by human activities and the characteristics of engineering construction, the topographic relief(altitude)has a gradient effect on ecological environment quality.During the construction phase, the most significant decline in ecological environment quality was observed in regions with an altitude below 1,900 meters,so the supervision in this area should be strengthened and higher intensity artificial restoration measures should be taken. In contrast, during the operational phase, regions with an altitude above 2,100 meters exhibited good or bet-ter ecological environment quality, for which more natural restoration-based approaches can be used to stabilize ecological quality. This study can provide theoretical references and technical support for the ecological protection and restoration of the YaKang Expressway.
