The Origins and Governance Challenges of Kibera Slums in Kenya
As one of the largest urban slums in the world,Kibera has always received international attention.Kibera emerged with the development of the city of Nairobi, due to the policy legacy during the colonial period and the failure of the local government's renovation plans after Kenya's independence.Ethnic con-flicts,the lack of government management, and the absence of public services further exacerbated Kibera's poverty.Kibera not only reflects the contradiction between the rapid economic development and the lagging urban housing construction in Nairobi, but also demonstrates deeper economic inequality.Analyzing the for-mation of Kibera not only helps us understand the difficulties and challenges of urban development in Nairobi and Africa, but also provide reference for China-Africa cooperation and China's poverty governance.
