The Tortuous Modernization Process of Poland in the 20th Century and the Socialist Practice of the Soviet Union
The biggest demand and the most fundamental task in the tortuous modernization process of Poland in the 20th century is to seek national liberation and real national independence.Without political indepen-dence,the modernization of the national state is impossible to achieve. After World War Ⅱ,Poland did not fulfill the goal and demand of complete modernization through the practice of socialism. It was not until the upheaval of Eastern Europe in 1989 that Poland finally got rid of the control of the Soviet Union and em-barked on the road of independent development through peaceful social transformation. The historical tradi-tions of Tsarist Russia had a great influence on the practice of socialism in the Soviet Union. In exploring the relationship between the socialist practice of the Soviet Union and the tortuous modernization process of Central and Eastern European countries, especially Poland,it is necessary to study not only the revolution-ary nature of the Russian road, but also the inheritance of Russian history. The Soviet Union's policy to-wards Poland and other socialist countries became one of the important reasons for the end of the Soviet socialist practice and the collapse of the socialist camp, and also the decisive factor affecting the tortuous modernization process of Poland in the 20th century.
