The Flow of Knowledge:An Analysis of the Cross-regional Dissemination of England in Egypt
The British occupation of Egypt in 1882 prompted enduring discussions and numerous scholarly studies.Milner's work,England in Egypt,is a historical work that cannot be ignored. It was disseminated to Japan and China through the process of cultural exchange and interaction between the East and the West.Due to different social realities and needs, there are significant differences in the understanding and response of Japan and China towards imperialistic narratives.Japan actively embraced imperialistic ideologies and inten-tionally downplayed the Egyptian national democratic movement. In contrast,China exhibited a rejection and unwillingness to accept that attitude, even breaking through the colonial discourse to contemplate the coun-try's future and destiny. This study demonstrates that modern African history became an important ideologi-cal resource for the development of nationalism in East Asia, highlighting the significant role of African history on the world historical stage.
