The Evolution of Research on the"October Revolution"in the Japanese Academic Community in the 1960s and 1970s
In the 1960s and 1970s,the Cold War entered a stage where the Soviet Union was on the offensive and the United States shifted from offensive to defensive.In the face of the Soviet Union and its offensive,as well as the intensified implementation of the"Psychological Strategy Plan for Japan"by the United States and changes in Japan's domestic political situation,some Japanese scholars proposed to transform traditional Marxist socialist research.The"October Revolution"in Russia,which was considered to have created a new era of world socialism,thus once became a research focus.Japanese scholars conducted in-depth dis-cussions on the research stance,leaders,and"On the Triumph of One Country"of the"October Revolu-tion",aiming to enhance their understanding of the development direction of the world socialist movement.Although they still held a certain left-wing perspective,overall,they gradually tended to adopt the ideolog-ical stance of Europe and America.The historical interpretation and debate of the"October Revolution"al-ways involved fundamental issues related to the path and underlying institution of socialism.
