20世纪90年代中叶以来,美国一批历史学家反思新经济史家对经济议题的狭隘理解,批评新文化史家对经济议题的忽视,在观察资本主义发展新现象和批判新自由主义的基础上,整合原有史学分支领域,逐渐发展出被称为"新资本主义史学"的研究领域.新资本主义史学将"资本主义"作为宏观分析工具,试图把"经济"带回社会史和文化史研究,重新阐释美国和全球资本主义发展历程.这一新的史学领域催生许多新研究题材和方向,深刻改变人们对资本主义的理解和认识,但也存在滥用资本主义概念的"史学帝国主义"倾向.
Abstract
Since the mid-1990s,a cohort of American historians has critically reevaluated the narrow focus of new economic historians on economic issues and the neglect of such issues by new cultural historians.Building on observations of new phenomena in the evolution of capitalism and critiques of neoliberalism,these historians have sought to integrate previously separate historical subfields,establishing what is now known as the"New History of Capitalism"(NHOC).Using"capitalism"as a broad analytical framework,this field seeks to reintegrate economic analysis into social and cultural history while reinterpreting the development of capitalism in both the United States and the global context.While this field has inspired a wealth of innovative research themes and directions,significantly reshaping scholarly understandings of capitalism,it has also drawn criticism for its tendency toward"historiographical imperialism",particularly in its uncritical and expansive application of the concept of capitalism.
