A Study on a Novel Evaluation Method for Reliable Isolation Planar Transformers in Intrinsic Safety Technology
The insufficiencies in the evaluation methods for traditional enameled wire-wound transformers used as reliable isolation devices in intrinsic safety applications are discussed in this paper. The article introduces the concept of using planar transformers as reliable isolation devices and,in light of their unique characteristics, proposes a novel evaluation method that replaces type testing with computational analysis.Additionally,a method for determining isolation spacing is provided.Theoretical analysis indicates that this new evaluation method can be employed to assess the reliable isolation performance of planar transformers.
