Research on air quality control in electric locomotive driver's cab along Sichuan-Tibet railway
In order to ensure good air quality in the driver's cab of electric locomotives when running along the Sichuan-Tibet Railway, based on the investigation of the altitude, temperature and thermal damage in tunnels along the section from Ya'an to Linzhi as well as analysis of the human body's tolerance to air components,a numerical model was established to study the dynamic characteristics of O2 and CO2 mass percentage in the electric locomotive driver's cab.The results show that there exist the thermal damage and toxic gases in some tunnels. The tolerance of the human body to air components requires that the mass percentage of CO2 in the driver's cab should not exceed 0.23%,and the mass percentage of O2 should be controlled in the range of 21.5%~25.4%.The O2 mass percentage in lower part of the cab is higher than that above the driver's head, and the O2 mass percentage is lower in front of the driver. The O2 mass percentage in the area above the driver's head are generally lower than 19%,and the CO2 mass percentage at the front end of the cab reaches more than 0.28%.When the locomotive runs at a speed of 160 km/h in a tunnel with thermal damage and toxic gases, the fresh air system has to be shut down, while increasing the fresh air volume from the conventional 25 to 40 m3/(h·人)in other sections can make O2 and CO2 mass percentage in the driver's cab meet the indoor environment requirements; When the speed is constant, with the increase of the fresh air volume, the driver's indoor environment will be well improved;when the fresh air volume is constant, with the increase of the locomotive speed, the fresh air volume in the driver's cab that needs to meet the air environment requirements will be reduced. The research results can provide reference basis for the design of locomotives on the Sichuan Tibet railway.
