"Quench a Thirst with Poison":the Problem of Daqian in Ancient China
As a means of currency devaluation in ancient China,Daqian began in the pre-Qin Dynasty,flourished in the Tang and Song dynasties,and declined in the Ming and Qing dynasties.When the feudal dynasty had financial difficulties and a shortage of currency,the appearance of Daqian solved certain problems but produced new drawbacks,and its effect was difficult to maintain for a long time.With the advent of the wave of currency silverization and globalization,the enduring Daqian in ancient China's monetary policy eventually died out.
