Research on the Dispersal of Government Book Collections in Song Dynasty
Song Dynasty was an era of"promoting culture and education and restraining military cause",characterized by rapid cultural development and unprecedented prosperity in the book collection industry. However, the dispersal of government book collections remained severe. The primary cause of the phenomenon was the chaos caused by wars, especially the unprecedented devastating impact of the Jingkang Incident and the Shaoding Disturbance on the government book collections. The second cause was fires, such as the Three Libraries Disaster during Dazhong Xiangfu period and the Imperial Book Tower Disaster during the Shaoding period, which resulted in significant loss of government books. The ineffective governance policy and management system also contributed to the continuous loss of books from government libraries throughout Song Dynasty.
