Reflections on Archival Silence from the Social Gender Perspective
From the social gender perspective, the paper analyzes and sorts out the connection between women and archival silence. The absence is manifested in the lack of possibility for women to create and preserve records under the constraints of patriarchy. The distortion is manifested in the lack of subjectivity for women to express their own will in archival records duo to the shaping of female images by patriarchy and the internalization of social norms by women. To break the archival silence,on the one hand, the resource construction of women's archives needs to be strengthened. On the other hand, the narrative subject position of women in creating records and developing archives needs to be reinforced.
