Case Analysis and Inspiration of Web Page Archiving in American Universities——Taking Harvard University,University of Michigan and Columbia University as Examples
As a comprehensive integrated service platform for information distribution,collaborative work,news propaganda and external services,university websites are one of the important sources for universities to preserve history,advise government and educate people.American universities have become the main battle position for national web page archiving projects.This paper studies the research status,characteristics,and construction strategies of web page archiving projects at Harvard University,University of Michigan and Columbia University,and tries to provide reference for the web page archiving in China from four aspects:seizing opportunities and inaugurating new situation,strengthening cooperation and promoting development,building systems and formulating regulations,integrating resources and providing for utilization.
