Based on the self-determination theory and role identity theory, this study recruits 450 manager-employee dyads from 43 tourism enterprises to construct a multi-level model regarding the impact of transformational/transactional leadership and chaxu climate on employee pro-environmental behavior(PEB)in tourism and hospitality industry. The results are as follows:(1)Transformational leadership has a positive impact on employee PEB,while transactional leadership has the opposite effect.(2)Psychological empowerment and perceived insider status serve the role of chain mediators between transformational/transactional leadership and employee PEB.(3)Chaxu climate has a negative moderating effect on the relationship between transformational/transactional leadership and employee pro-environmental behavior via psychological empowerment and perceived insider status. In sum, this study enriches the theoretical and empirical research of employee PEBs,as well as provides directions for improving the effectiveness of internal environmental management of tourism and hospitality organizations.
