Organizational routines are pivotal assets that provide hospitality firms with competitive advantages over rivalries.Yet,prior researches have largely overlooked the role of strategic rhythms in enhancing the routine updating. This research innovatively constructs a theoretical model to analyze how strategic rhythms promote organizational routine updating, aiming to explore the functional mechanisms and evolutionary progress involved. The findings of this study are as follows:First, the study reveals that organizational routine updating undergoes three stages, from the initial stage of change,to adjustment and the transition, ultimately leading to the updated and upgrade stage. These stages are influenced by various environmental factors and the unique characteristics of their development, guiding them along a path from guidance,to bridging, and finally,to synergy.Second, the interaction between executive leadership behavior and employee following behavior is identified as the realization and key link of strategic rhythms. This interaction undergoes three action strategies of"cognitive guidance, cultural bridge, and business choreography"in this process from clarification to implementation.Third, the findings illustrate that an enterprise's strategic rhythms entail a dynamic evolutionary process that incorporates upward and downward movements, continuously propelling it forward. This transmission process influences the updating and evolution of organizational conventions. In summary, these insights have significant practical implications for service operators and managers and enrich the discourse on organizational routines by shedding light on how to promote routine updating through strategic rhythms.Undoubtedly, this study offers a novel angle on the growth and development of Chinese hospitality enterprises in the context of organizational routine updating.
