Research Progress and Prospects on Mountain Tourism Experience
As mountain tourism exerts an increasingly significant effect on the development of mountainous areas and the global tourism market,it has become an important field in interdisciplinary studies.Theoretical shortcomings of the previous research, however, should be highly concerned, including the tendency of decentralization and generalization.Focusing on the core issue of tourism experience, this paper reviewed the topical topics, characteristics and inadequacies of the research on mountain tourism experience, and discussed the directions and trends of further research. The research findings reveal that research on mountain tourism experience has been more focused on motivation and constraint, body and emotion, authenticity and meaning, and heterogeneous mountain tourism experience. The overall trend of the research conveyed the positive characteristics in terms of research perspective, paradigm, situation and object.Meanwhile, there are some inadequacies in current achievements, such as theoretical self-awareness,research systematization, and specific research content and method, which are highlighted by the lack of a knowledge system.Accordingly,a four-dimensional framework in terms of subject dimension, cognition dimension, method dimension, and value dimension were established for the research of mountain tourism experience. Some key topics of research on mountain tourism experience were proposed, including constant attention on the influence of the philosophical thought of human-mountain relationships on mountain tourism experience,in-depth exploration of the forming mechanisms of differentiated mountain tourism experience, particular investigations into the relationship between the high gradient effects of mountains and mountain tourism experience, strengthened comparative study of mountain tourism experience under different spatial and temporal scales, focuses on the role of intelligent factors in the generation and research of mountain tourism experience. This study is intended for providing reference for deepening the research of mountain tourism and supporting the high-quality development of mountain tourism industry.
