Water Stopping Model Experiment of High Elastic Rubber and Measurement of Full Circumferential Bulging Deformation
The use of high elastic rubber for sealing and water stopping is an effective approach to address the leakage problems that occur in long-term operation of hydraulic structures such as culverts and tunnels. In order to evaluate the sealing effect of different rubbers,a high elastic rubber sealing experimental model is proposed. The rubber is installed in the expansion joint of the model, and the sealing performance of the rubber is tested by applying hydrostatic pressure.Meanwhile,a full circumferential 3D digital image correlation(3D-DIC)method using an electric rotary table is proposed.By using a single 3D-DIC system, the bulging deformation of inner rubber under different hydrostatic pressures and in different angles of view can be measured.A hydrostatic pressure experiment is conducted on a physical specimen poured in 1∶1 ratio. The maximum water pressure that the selected rubber can withstand and the full circumference bulging deformation are measured, verifying the feasibility of the water-stopping model experiment and the effectiveness of measurement method of the full circumference deformation.
