A Brief Talk on Goethe's Color Theory and Its Contribution
This paper discusses Goethe's color theory and its important contributions in the fields of art and science.Goethe's color theory is a method of color cognition based on perceptual and intuitive experience,and also provides rich inspiration and methods for artistic creation and design practice.Through the systematic analysis of Goethe's color theory,this paper reveals its main theoretical characteristics and core ideas.Goethe emphasized the perceptual experience of color,believing that color is not only a physical property of light,but also an important carrier of human feelings and psychological effects.His color classification method,color wheel design and color opposition theory provide a comprehensive and multi-dimensional understanding framework for the study and application of color.Different from Newton's physical and mathematical methods,Goethe tried to explore the essence and meaning of color through intuition and feeling,which provided a new perspective and thinking direction for later color research and practice.
