Investigation on the Ant Diversity in Huaping County of Yunnan
The ant diversity between the altitudes 1240-3060 m in Huaping County of Yunnan Province was studied by sample-plot method. This research collected 15077 ant individuals which were recognized as 46 species belonging to 21 genera and 5 subfamilies, including 42 known species and 4 unknown ones. The results showed that the dominant species were Tapinoma melanocephalum, Plagiolepis rothneyi and Pheidole watsoni, accounting for 6.5%. The proportions of 10 common species and 33 rare ones were 21.7% and 71.7% respectively. The main diversity indexes were as follow, species numbers 1-22 ( average 9.3 ) , individual densities 0.4-1299.8 ( average 376.9 ) , species diversity indexes 0-1.6172 ( average 0.6344) , evenness indexes 0-0.5398 ( average 0.2491) , dominant indexes 0.2781-1.0000 ( average 0.7007) . The similarity coefficients of ant communities with different altitudes and vegetation forms were 0-0.4483 ( average 0.0642 ) at extremely dissimilar to moderate similar levels, which represented that each ant community had its own characteristics.
