Effects of Feeding Different Kinds of Organic Waste on Growth and Development of Potosia brevitarsis
The larva of Protaetia brevitarsis has the effect of treating waste and producing organic fertilizer. This paper selected corn straw and various bacterial residues as fodder to study the effects of different kinds of fodder on the growth and development of Protaetia brevitarsis,so as to find out the best fodder ra-tio suitable for the growth. The results showed that the larvae feeding on small particles fodder were better than the larvae feeding on large particles fodder in weight gain and fodder utilization. The larvae feeding on Pleurotus ostreatus residue showed the best performance in terms of weight gain rate and fodder utiliza-tion rate, with rates of 80.65%and 2.15%,respectively,while the mortality rate was 11.11%.The weight gain rate of larvae feeding on Tricholoma mongolicum was 33.41%,the utilization rate of feed was 0.67%,and the mortality rate was 17.78%.In conclusion, small particles of Pleurotus ostreatus residue could be used as the best fodder for the Protaetia brevitarsis,in order to provide a reference basis for the Protaetia brevitarsis breeding and subsequent cycle mode research.
