On Marx's Critique of Lassalle's Concept of Nation
Lassalleanism was an opportunistic and erroneous trend in the international workers' movement in 1860s and 1870s,whose concept of nation continued the influence of Hegel and was characterized by abstraction,utopi-anism,and compromise.To eliminate Lassalleanism's negative impact on the international workers' movement,Marx conducted a comprehensive and profound critique of it in terms of the nature and the functions of the state,the means of aim realization,the governing body,and the scope of the revolution,exposing the hypocrisy of Las-salleanism.Reviewing Marx's critique of Lassalle's state theory is of great significance in our journey to build a modernized socialist country,for it helps us to uphold the guiding position of Marxism in the ideological field,ad-here to and develop Chinese socialism,promote the path of Chinese-style modernization,and realize the moderniza-tion of the national governance system.
