WANG Duo,an influential calligrapher, painter, litterateur and statesman in Ming and Qing dynasties, had a strong sense of native land and shared a deep friendship with many Zhongzhou(the central area of ancient China)literati like PENG Ershu,ZHANG Jinyan and ZHOU Lianggong. In addition to poem responsory, singing, drinking and writing letters, calligraphy and painting is also an important way for them to communicate with each other.By accepting and criticizing WANG Duo's theory of painting and calligraphy,Zhongzhou scholars identified and established WANG Duo's status as a leader of Zhongzhou art circles during Ming and Qing dynasties, and pro-moted the process of WANG Duo's painting and calligraphy classics, consciously submitting to and practicing WANG Duo's painting and calligraphy theory, with obvious traces of"learning from WANG Duo"later in their re-lated works.
