A Comparative Study on the Use of Four-word Lexical Bundles in Journal Articles by English Natives and Chinese Writers
The study adopted a corpus-driven approach to explore the features of 4-word lexical bundles written in English journal articles by L1-Chinese writers and native English writers in the field of applied linguistics.It finds that L1-Chinese writers generally use more lexical bundles than native English writers do,but the lexical bundles written by L1-Chinese writers are less diversified than that of native writers.Structurally,journal articles of Chinese writers rely on clausal bundles,while those of English native writers tend to employ phrasal bundles.Functionally,Chinese writers focus on text layout,while native English writers put more emphasis on the content of the articles.The results have certain values in lexical bundles teaching and domestic journal articles writing.
