Research Progress on Forest Underground Fires in China
Forest underground fires often occur in the bottom layer of high-temperature,dry,and bio-mass abundant litter. After the litter is mixed with peat,it continues to smolder in an anaerobic environ-ment.Underground forest fires do not burn significantly, but they damage forest roots and soil, produce a large amount of harmful gases, and have a significant impact on forest ecosystems and ecological security. The large amount of ash formed by long-term underground combustion can be transported to other forest areas by the wind, leading to larger fires.Summarize and elaborate on the research progress of forest un-derground fires from two research directions:theory and application, including:combustion characteris-tics of forest underground fires, influencing factors of forest underground fires, prevention and extinguis-hing technologies for forest underground fires, and technical equipment for identifying forest underground fires.Next, the above research progress will be reviewed and summarized, which can provide valuable references for future underground fire prevention and control measures, firefighting response, and post disaster management and recovery work, and provide new ideas and directions for forest underground fire research.
