Key Techniques for Establishing the Second-Generation Larix gmelinii Seed Orchard
Larix gmelinii is native to the Greater and Lesser Khingan Mountains and is an indigenous tree species in Northeast China. The second-generation seed orchard of Larix gmelinii was established in the Ulanba Forest Farm,a national Larix gmelinii breeding base,in 2020.This orchard covers an area of 1 hectare and was built using 28 superior clones selected through the five-tree method from progeny test forests. This paper analyzes the key techniques for establishing the second-generation Larix gmelinii seed orchard, covering aspects such as the selection of orchard materials, establishment process, tending management, and tree form management, with the aim of providing a reference for the construction of second-generation Larix gmelinii seed orchards in Northeast China.
