Stump Grafting and Sprout Regeneration Techniques for Populus in Western Liaoning
In order to improve the local ecological environment in western Liaoning,a large number of Populus plantations have been established.However,due to improper selection of varieties and physiolog-ical over-maturity,the quality of some stands has begun to decline,affecting the ecological and eco-nomic benefits of the Populus forests.Therefore,it is necessary to renovate and upgrade the low-effi-ciency Populus stands.Utilizing low-cost,simple afforestation techniques such as stump grafting and sprout regeneration can achieve rapid regeneration of Populus stands.Based on production practices,this paper summarizes the key points of stump grafting and sprout regeneration techniques for Populus trees in western Liaoning,as well as common pest and disease prevention and control techniques for Populus.
