Investigation and Protection of Rare Terrestrial Vertebrates in the Guangdong Luhe Nanwan Castanopsis hystrix Forest Provincial Nature Reserve
An investigation of rare terrestrial vertebrates was conducted in the Guangdong Luhe Nanwan Castanopsis hystrix Forest Provincial Nature Reserve.A total of 159 species of terrestrial wild vertebrates were recorded,including 41 rare and endangered key protected species,3 national first-class key pro-tected wild animals,and 16 national second-class key protected wild animals.The analysis identified the main causes of wildlife endangerment as human hunting,habitat destruction,and environmental pol-lution.Measures and strategies proposed include strengthening team building and law enforcement,strict-ly implementing relevant laws and regulations;enhancing the nature education function of protected areas and vigorously carrying out publicity and education work;strengthening scientific research on wildlife and establishing a comprehensive monitoring system;and regulating the sustainable use of wildlife resources to ensure sustainable conservation and utilization.
