Techniques for container seedlings of Schima superba
An experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of substrate composition, container size, slow release fertilizer , air cutting roots on the growth of annual Schima superba seedlings. The results showed that the substrate composition and air cutting roots had no significant influence on the growth of annual S. Superba seedlings when the proportion of peat in substrate was not below 50% . While the slow release fertilizer and the container size had significant influence on the height and ground diameter of annual S. Superba seedlings. The height and ground diameter of annual S. Superba seedlings were in-creased with the increases of the slow fertilizer application until the 2. 5 kg/m3. The growth situation of container seedlings of annual S. Superba was the best when the container size was 4. 5 cm X 12 cm. Comprehensive consideration the production cost of container seedlings, the best scheme for annual S. Superba seedings was that the proportion of peat and hull was 5: 5, the container size of matrix non-woven fabric was 4. 5 cm x 8 cm, and the amount of slow release fertilizers was 2. 5 kg/m3.
