Changes of soil physical and chemical properties of poplar plantation with different stand ages and rotations
Experiment plots of poplar plantation with different stand ages and rotations were structured by using "space replacing time" method to measure the soil physical and chemical properties. The results showed that soil bulk density of the 6-year-old stands of the first-rotation poplar plantation was higher than that of the 9-year-old stands of the second-rotation poplar plantation. With the second-rotation stand age increase, soil bulk density decreased gradually as follows:the 3-year-old stands > the 3-year-old stands > the 3-year-old stands. And there was significant difference among the second rotation poplar plantation experiment plots. The soil saturated water capacity, capillary water capacity, capillary porosity and total porosity were all no obvious differences among the all experiment plots. While the change of the soil non-capillary porosity was clear, especially among the plots of different stand age of second-rotation.The results also displayed that all nutrient elements were higher in the 0-10 cm soil layer than that in the 10-30 cm soil layer, while pH change showed the opposite tendency. There was no change law of 0-10 cm or 10-30 cm soil layer in experiment plot of poplar plantation.
