A experiment on container seedling raising of Dalbergia odorifera in tropical areas of Yunnan Province
Using orthogonal design L9 (34) , we examined the influences of container size, fertilizer type and growing medium on the seedling growth of Dalbergia odorifera.Six-month-old seedlings grown under different treatments were measured in height, ground diameter, taproot length, entire fresh weight and entire dry weight. The results showed that all three factors presented very significant effects on the height, ground diameter, entire fresh weight and entire dry weight.Fertilizer type influenced taproot length significantly, while the influences on the container size and growing media was not significant.Analysis from the combinations of different treatments indicated that the optimal scheme to produce vigorous seedlings of D.odorifera was to use 12 cm × 16 cm container, apply 1% compound fertilizer as the base fertilizer, and adopt compound medium of 100% forest soil ±20% burnt soil.An alternative scheme was to use 10 cm × 14 cm container, apply 1% compound fertilizer as the base fertilizer, and adopt compound medium of 80% forest soil ± 20% burnt soil.
