Biological fermentation of plant extracts and their products in cosmetics
In recent years,driven by consumers'increasing demand for natural,safe,and environmentally friendly cosmetics,plant extracts have garnered significant attention due to their abundance of bioactive ingredients.Consequently,research on plant active ingredients has emerged as a focal point within the cosmetics industry.As an advanced biotransformation technology,biological fermentation can transform plant extracts into compounds with higher added value and efficacy through the metabolism of microorganisms,providing a new source of raw materials for the cosmetics industry.This study mainly reviewed the basic principles and methods of biological fermentation of plant extracts,introduced the common strains of biological fermentation,focused on the efficacy of biological fermentation products in cosmetics and its mechanism of action,including antibacterial,anti-photoaging and whitening effects.Additionally,this study analyzed the advantages of biological fermentation products of plant extracts in cosmetics and its application potential in cosmetics market.It is noteworthy that biological fermentation technology not only amplified the advantages of utilizing plant raw materials,but also mitigated potential risks associated with them.Through the metabolic activity of microorganisms,certain ingredients that may trigger allergies or irritation can be broken down or transformed,thereby enhancing the safety and comfort of cosmetics.In addition,the biological fermentation process is mild and less polluting to the environment.At the same time,the use of renewable resources such as plant wastes for fermentation can also realize the recycling of resources,in line with the concept of sustainable development.With the continuous progress and development of biotechnology,biological fermentation of plant extracts would play a more important role in the cosmetics industry.All in all,the biological fermentation of plant extracts has brought new development opportunities and has broad market prospects and great significance.In the future,the research in this field should pay more attention to the refinement of the fermentation process,the optimization of the structure of the fermentation products and the in-depth study of the efficacy mechanism,so as to provide the cosmetics industry with safer,more efficient and environmentally friendly raw materials,meeting the diversifiied needs of consumers,and promoting the green transformation and sustainable development of the cosmetics industry.
