Design of Mongolian saddle-shaped seat based on Kansei Engineering and AIGC
Aiming at the current challenges in mining users'perceptual needs and design translation in furniture design,a new method was proposed. This method involved obtaining users'perceptual needs and transforming them into artificial intelligence generated content(AIGC)rough prototypes and cue words, which were then used to generate and iterate designs. This approach was practiced and verified using the saddle chair as an example.Firstly, under the framework of Kansei Engineering, factor analysis was used to downscale and cluster the collected perceptual imagery vocabulary, and fuzzy hierarchical analysis was used to find the relative weight of the perceptual imagery vocabulary,so as to achieve the extraction and mining to obtain the representative imagery vocabulary pairs and their dimensional definitions.Secondly, morphological analysis was used to deconstruct the saddle samples to obtain the design elements, and quality function deployment(QFD)quality house was used to construct the mapping model between the user's perceptual imagery vocabulary and the design elements,so as to obtain the rough prototype of the concept that meets the user's perceptual needs. Finally, the rough prototype and the perceptual imagery vocabulary were inputted into AIGC for solution generation.Compared with previous studies,Kansei Engineering not only enabled designers to obtain the key perceptual needs of users and their weights in a relatively objective way,but also attained rough prototypes that conformed to the AIGC generation tool, which intervened instead of modelling and rendering processes of designers and avoided the problem of the designers'subjectivity deviating from the users'needs to the greatest extent.Kansei Engineering,a scientific design method used to obtain the user's perceptual needs, belongs to the user research stage. In the traditional design process, the translating from user research to design relied heavily on the designer's creativity, raising questions about its scientific accuracy and objectivity.Combining Kansei Engineering and AIGC allowed designers to quickly generate furniture designs that meets the user's perceptual needs and preferences during the conceptual design stage. This approach not only provides a new research direction but also offers a scientific and efficient design method and tool for"user-centered design".
