Analysis of the Effect of Intercropping Nanmu under Different Canopy Densities in Chinese Fir Plantations
In 2013,a forest farm in S city conducted an experimental study on the effect of canopy closure on the growth of understory intercropped Chinese fir stands. In this experiment, the experimental team selected a 26 year old mature Chinese fir pure forest with similar site conditions as the experimental area.Three density treatments were retained, with 900,600,and 750 plants/hm2,respec-tively.At the same time, the intercropping of 2-year-old Nanmu was carried out in February 2018,with densities of 1 200,1 050,and 900 plants/hm2,and a control group was set up with 900 plants/hm2 retained during the main cutting and selective cutting. In February 2023,the experimental team conducted a rigorous comparison of stand growth. The results indicate that it is advisable to retain a density of 600 Chinese fir trees/hm2,and to intercrop Nanmu trees under the forest at 1200 trees/hm2.
