Comprehensive Evaluation of Salt Tolerance of 6 Excellent Strains of Sambucus williamsii
In order to reveal the adaptability of new strains of Sambucus williamsii to salt stress and screen for new strains with stronger salt tolerance, this experiment used pot culture method and 1-year old cut-ting seedlings of 6 Sambucus williamsii strains as experimental materials.Different concentrations of NaCl(0‰,2‰,4‰,6‰)were applied to analyze and compare the differences in growth and physiological indexes between the 6 strains after treatment, and to conduct principal component comprehensive analysis and evaluation. The results showed that with the increase of NaCl concentration, the seedling height incre-ment of 6 Sambucus williamsii strains increased firstly and then decreased, and the fresh weight, dry weight and overall health status of the plants showed a gradual decline. The health status of 6‰ NaCl treatment decreased the least by 20.69%compared with 0‰ NaCl treatment of'Shuidan'.The content of malondialdehyde and cell membrane permeability of the 6 Sambucus williamsii strains showed a gradually increasing trend, while the content of malondialdehyde in'Shuidan'showed the smallest increase com-pared to the control with 0‰ NaCl.The chlorophyll content, soluble protein content and the relative wa-ter content of the leaves of 6 Sambucus williamsii strains showed a gradually decreasing trend, among them, the chlorophyll content of'Yandan'and'Shuidan'was higher than that of other strains, and the soluble protein content and the relative water content of'Yandan'showed the smallest decrease, and the 6‰ NaCl treatment decreased by 45.08%and 2.30%compared with 0‰ NaCl treatment, respectively. The superoxide dismutase activity and peroxidase activity of the 6 Sambucus williamsii strains showed a tendency of increasing and then decreasing, and the peroxidase activity of'Shuidan'was significantly low-er than that of'Hongfeng'and'Zifeng'at the concentrations of 0‰,2‰,and 4‰ NaCl.By conducting a bivariate analysis of variance on the above indexes,it was found that the interaction between strain and salt concentration significantly affected the overall health status of the plant, leaf relative water content, and dry weight of Sambucus williamsii plants.Through comprehensive analysis,it was found that the salt tolerance of the 6 Sambucus williamsii strains was'Shuidan'>'Yandan'>'Zifeng'>'Hongfeng'>'Jinhuan'>'Liuyehong','Shuidan'and'Yandan'have strong salt tolerance and can be used as candidate tree species for saline-alkali land greening.
