In order to regulate the growth,development,and quality of basil(Ocimum basilicum L.)plants,the'purple leaf basil'in artificial climate chamber was used as the test material,different combina-tions of light intensity and photoperiod were set with 224 μmol·m-2·s-1×16 h·d-1,224 μmol·m-2·s-1×24 h·d-1,330 μmol·m-2·s-1×16 h·d-1 in the last 7 days before harvesting.The results showed that compared with the control(224 μmol·m-2·s-1×16 h·d-1),the plant height and stem diameter of basil plants were increased by 19.1%and 20.6%,respectively;the shoot fresh weight,shoot dry weight and root dry weight of basil plants were increased by 26.2%,41.7%,and 115.0%,re-spectively;and the vitamin C content of basil leaves was increased by 47.1%.In addition,the dimension-ality reduction method of principal component analysis was used to analyze each index.The method of comprehensive evaluation was obtained that the treatments with 224 μmol·m-2·s-1×24 h·d-1 and 330 μmol·m-2·s-1×16 h·d-1 were better than the treatment with 224 μmol·m-2·s-1×16 h·d-1,and the comprehensive scores of the basil plants treated with 224 μmol·m-2·s-1×24 h·d-1 ranked first.In conclusion,short-term continuous light before harvesting improves growth and quality of basil plant under fully-controlled environmental conditions.
