Wang Bi's Critiques on Yixue in the Han Dynasty and Promotion of Metaphysics—An Analysis from the Perspective of Relationship between"Image"and"Meaning"
Wang Bi was the initiator of Yi-li school of Yixue for his achievement in the shift from the image-numerology to the Yi-li Yixue.The approach with the focus on"meaning"in the study of Yixue completely changed the tradition of scholars in the Han Dynasties to emphasize the teaching method and family law,and criti-cized the academic reality of the distortion in classics meaning by divination theology.Based on the theory of image-numerology in the Han Dynasties,Wang Bi abstracted the meaning of hexagrams.Wang Bi promoted the view that changes were caused by"Yin and Yang"to the metaphysical thinking that changes were caused by"virtuality and reality".By discussing the changing principles of Zhouyi(Classic of Changes),Wang Bi clarified the relationship between"nature","emotion","motion"and"stillness",and linked it with the noumenon,so as to make it a philosophical thinking.
