The Northern and Southern Dynasties engaged in the competition in cultural areas such as Bud-dhism,capital construction,and diplomatic culture.The two sides tried to strengthen their orthodox status,and the capitals Luoyang and Jiankang became the main fields of the competition.The competition promotes mutual refer-ence and communication,and also promotes national integration and social progress.
