Economic compensation for wildlife damage can indirectly achieve the purpose of biodiversity con-servation by means of reducing the possibility of human harm to wildlife and improving human tolerance for wildlife.The current legislative situation and judicial practice in economic compensation for wildlife damage show problems such as sluggish legislation,low compensation,and insufficient preventive measures.It is suggested that we should uphold the basic principles of legality and scientificity,adhere to the unique principle of offsetting losses and com-pensation,speed up the formulation of scientific compensation rules at the local level,and take preventive measures to improve local legislation.
