Protective Effect of Extracted Veronicastrum axillare on Chemical Liver Injury in Mice
Mice liver injury models were established with 0.5%CCl4 and 50%ethanol respectively.Protective effect of Veronicastrum axillare water extract and alcohol extract on carbon tetrachloride(CCl4)and alcohol induced acute liver injury in mice was compared. The results showed that both Veronicastrum axillare water extract and alcohol extract could reduce the serum ALT activity and liver tissue's malondialdehyde(MDA)level of the mice with CCl4 induced liver injury, increase liver tissue's GSH-PX,T-SOD,CAT and albumin levels, reduce the degree of pathological changes of liver tissue of the mice with CCl4 induced liver injury, but there is no significant difference in their hepatoprotective effects between the two(P>0.05).Veronicastrum axillare water extract and alcohol extract can reduce serum ALT activity, liver MDA and TG levels in mice with alcoholic liver injury, increase liver tissue's GSH and T-SOD levels, and reduce the degree of pathological change in liver tissue of the mice with alcoholic liver injury, and the effect of water extract is more remarkable(P<0.05).Both Veronicastrum axillare water extract and alcohol extract has its protection effects on liver tissue of the mice with CCl4 liver injury or alcoholic liver injury, water extracts have a better protective effect on alcoholic liver injury.
