Place Names of Hakka and Min Ethnic Groups in Raoping from Perspective of Linguistics
Place names are important carriers of local culture,and the place names of the two major dialects of Hakka and Min ethnic groups are rich in local characteristics.The mixed residence of Hakka and Min ethnic groups in Raoping area,represented by the common names"lou"and"cuo",respectively,reflects the regional distribution of Hakka and Fujian dialects.At the same time,the phenomenon of mutual use of local Hakka and Min place names is quite obvious,reflecting the close contact between the two ethnic groups.The characteristic place names of"place name+surname"in Hakka dialect often appear in the coastal Min dialect area of Raoping,which is related to the increasing use of Min dialect among the village.Fujianization of village dialects.
