To investigate the relationship between parental psychological control and problematic mobile phone use among junior high school students,and to analyze the mediating roles of self-esteem and social anxiety,this study surveyed 360 junior high school students from a regular middle school in Fujian Province.Instruments used included the Parental Psychological Control Scale,Self-Esteem Scale,Social Anxiety Scale,and Problematic Mobile Phone Use Scale.The findings reveal a significant positive correlation between parental psychological control and problematic mobile phone use.Social anxiety functions as a mediator between parental psychological control and problematic mobile phone use,while self-esteem and social anxiety jointly constitute a sequential mediating effect.The results highlight the importance of modulating parental psychological control levels,enhancing self-esteem,and mitigating social anxiety to reduce problematic mobile phone use among junior high school students.
